Our Story

The Founder

SwissAm Inc. Seasonings was founded in 1983 by Swiss-American executive chef and renowned flavor development technician Paul W. Kummer, who developed the all-purpose herb & spice blends that have enhanced and complimented the taste of our customer’s food for over 40 years.

Paul’s inspiration for the unique seasoning blends he created stemmed from his years of experience crafting recipes in some of the top restaurants in Europe and the United States.

His mission with SwissAm Seasonings was to liven up the flavor of food using natural ingredients, replacing heavy salt, sugar and fats with flavor from herbs and spices. 

After years of developing and refining our herb and spice range, SwissAm Seasonings launched to market in the early 80s - offering sophisticated, easy-to-use, versatile and perfectly balanced seasoning blends to the restaurant industry and retail stores. 

Now in our 5th decade of business, Paul’s seasoning creations continue to impress the taste buds, and are approved and loved by restaurant and home chefs across the US. 

Paul W. Kummer passed away in 2019, but the company continues to follow his vision under the leadership of his grandson James, and daughter Susan.

SwissAm Catering 1982–2022

SwissAm enjoyed years of success with our own in-house catering division, run by Paul’s wife Erika and son Peter. 

The division catered for events such as the 1996 Atlanta Olympics opening ceremony, and Mayor Bob Corker’s Government events for the likes of President George H. W. Bush Sr. 

The success of SwissAm Catering was built upon the foundation of SwissAm Seasonings and the speciality herb and spice blends used across all recipes.
