Our Story

The Founder Behind the Flavor

SwissAm Seasonings® was founded in 1982 by Swiss-American executive chef and renowned flavor development technician Paul W. Kummer, who developed the all-purpose herb & spice blends that have enhanced and complemented the taste of our customers’ food for over 40 years.

Paul’s inspiration for the unique seasoning blends he created stemmed from his years of experience crafting recipes in some of the finest restaurants across Europe and the United States.

His mission with SwissAm Seasonings was to elevate everyday cooking using natural ingredients - bringing depth of flavor while reducing the need for excessive salt, sugar, and fats.

After years of developing and refining our herb and spice range, SwissAm Seasonings launched in the early 1980s, offering sophisticated, easy-to-use, versatile, and perfectly balanced seasoning blends to both the restaurant industry and home kitchen.

Now in our fifth decade of business, Paul’s seasoning creations continue to impress taste buds and are trusted by restaurant chefs and home cooks across the United States.

Today, his legacy continues through the third generation of family leadership, with his grandson James and daughter Susan carrying forward the same commitment to exceptional flavor, quality, and heritage.

SwissAm enjoyed years of success with our own in-house catering division, run by Paul’s wife Erika and son Peter. 

The division catered for events such as the 1996 Atlanta Olympics opening ceremony, and Mayor Bob Corker’s Government events for the likes of President George H. W. Bush Sr. 

The success of SwissAm Catering was built upon the foundation of SwissAm Seasonings and the speciality herb and spice blends used across all recipes.
