Ingredients
For the burgers:
-
1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)
-
1–2 tsp SwissAm Pepper Mélange
-
4 slices American or cheddar cheese
-
4 brioche buns, toasted
-
1 tbsp oil or butter
For the caramelized bacon onion jam:
-
6 slices bacon, chopped
-
1 large onion, thinly sliced
-
1 tbsp butter
-
1–2 tsp SwissAm Broil & Sauté Seasoning
Optional:
-
Lettuce or arugula
-
Tomato slices
-
Pickles
Instructions
1. Make the bacon onion jam
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crisp. Remove and set aside, leaving a little fat in the pan.
Add the sliced onions and butter. Cook slowly over medium-low heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and deeply caramelized.
Stir in SwissAm Broil & Sauté Seasoning and return the bacon to the pan. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until rich, glossy, and fully combined. Set aside.
2. Prepare the burgers
Form the ground beef into 3–4 equal patties. Season generously on both sides with SwissAm Broil & Sauté Seasoning, then finish with SwissAm Pepper Mélange to create a bold, peppery crust.
3. Cook the burgers
Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add oil or butter.
Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes per side, allowing the seasoning to sear and caramelize into a rich, flavorful crust. In the final minute, add cheese and allow it to melt.
4. Toast the buns
Lightly toast the brioche buns until golden.
5. Assemble
Layer the burger with:
-
Bottom bun
-
Beef patty with melted cheese
-
Generous spoonful of bacon onion jam
-
Optional toppings - pickles etc.
