Creamy Lobster Mac & Cheese with Crispy Herb Crumb
Share
Lobster mac & cheese works best when each element is handled properly - tender lobster, a smooth cheese sauce, and a crisp finish. This version builds flavor in layers, using SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning to bring balance without overpowering the dish.
Serves: 3–4
Ingredients
- 10–12 oz elbow macaroni (or similar pasta)
- 1½ cups cooked lobster meat, chopped
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Cheese Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar
- ½ cup gruyère or mozzarella
- ¾ tsp SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning
Lobster:
Herb Crumb Topping:
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1½ tbsp melted butter
- ½ tsp SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
- ¼ tsp SwissAm Pepper Mélange for an aromatic, peppery kick (optional)
Instructions
- Cook pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a pan over medium heat, warm olive oil and butter. Add the lobster meat and season with SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning. Cook gently for 2-3 minutes until just heated through. Remove and set aside.
- In a separate saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour to form a smooth roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes, then gradually add milk and cream, whisking until smooth and slightly thickened.
- Lower the heat and stir in the cheeses until fully melted. Add SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning and mix through.
- Fold the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce, mixing until evenly coated. Gently fold in the lobster, keeping the pieces intact.
- In a bowl, combine panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning. Mix well, then add parsley if using.
- Transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish and evenly scatter the seasoned crumb mixture over the top.
- Broil for 2-4 minutes until the topping is golden and crisp.
- Finish with a light sprinkle of SwissAm Broil & Sauté seasoning and, if desired, a touch of SwissAm Pepper Mélange for a bold peppery finish.
Why This Recipe Works
Seasoning the lobster separately ensures it carries flavor into every bite without getting lost in the sauce. The cheese remains smooth and balanced, while the seasoned crumb adds texture and a consistent finish throughout.
Serving Suggestions
Serve immediately while the topping is crisp and the sauce is at its creamiest. Pair with a simple green salad or lightly dressed vegetables to balance the richness.
A dish like this doesn’t rely on excess - just well-handled ingredients and clean, layered seasoning.
